We are running weekly Jam skating lessons in various locations across Adelaide.
"Jam Skating .... When general skating just isn't enough."
So what is Jam skating? It’s a skating style that is a combination of dance, gymnastics and skating. Our classes will concentrate more on fancy footwork than gymnastics. Jam skating originates from 1970’s roller discos but now has a hip-hop, break dance and modern dance influence.
Jam skating has been given countless names such as toe-dancing, spot-skating, shuffle skating, hexing, rexxing, trucking, shadow skating, crazy leg, boogie bouncing, and disco skating
Todays Jam skates have a unique low-cut design and lightweight frames (allows for more agility with feet while skating) and instead of a toe stop you will find a jam plug.
Originally a Jam skate was more like an artistic skate with a toe stop, our instructor G-Man (G) has a hard shell high cut inline boot with a stopper and a massive piece of foam around his skate (only found in the UK). G says the high cut boot tells him when he has leaned back far enough, although he admits his skates do not allow him to transition onto the side of his wheels. G also uses a stopper but this is his personal preference.
We think Jam skating is the coolest thing you can do on skates!
To join this class you must be at least an advanced beginner and feel comfortable on your skates. For more info contact Kerryn on 0403 223 177.
